Job: Apprentice Cycle mechanic

PT: 32 hours/week (Minimum)

About us:

We are a local, independent, community bike shop based at Studioname in St. Matthews. We fix, sell, service and repair all manner of bikes at reasonable prices and deliver community projects across the city and county. We are looking for someone to join the team full time and help us keep delivering our vision of affordable cycling for all.

The job:

We are looking someone who likes bikes, is good with their hands, likes people and wants to make a difference in their community. This is an apprentice role so you must also be up for learning new skills and self-motivating for study. The role requires you to work 5 days a week both in the shop and at Dr. Bike events around Leicester. You will also be required to work at least 1 Saturday per month, this may be in addition to your normal hours that week or in lieu of one of your normal working days.

Every week you will be expected to do 6 hours of self study, a mix of practical and online learning, every 6 weeks you will spend a day with a tutor and will be sent away a couple of times for training weeks. All travel, accommodation and training costs will be covered. Alongside this you will receive on the job training and support for your apprenticeship.  

Job requirements:

-GCSE pass level in Maths and English

-Great attention to detail

-Computer literate

-Able carry out solo work and as part of a team

-Ability to work in a fast paced and growing business

-Be a competent cyclist, we use our cargo bike whenever possible to travel to events.

Other skills will be taught on the job. This is a minimum of 18 months apprenticeship so please only apply if you are willing to commit for that long.
